19th June - It Makes Me Laugh
You are invited to bring along film & or TV clips, music, stories, poetry, jokes, photos, pictures, toys, objects etc that make you laugh.
26th June - Mubashir’s Story
Mubashir shares both his experiences of life in Pakistan as a gay man and of being an asylum seeker in the UK.
3rd July - At Home
Our usual social evening where members catch up and chat over tea & coffee etc. There may also be a brief members’ update and feedback session.
10th July - “Oh I Know It but What is it?”
Quiz Master Patrick presents us with: “Four rounds of musical madness of notable nostalgia. Particles of pop music, tantalising TV themes, clueless classical & frustrating film music.”
17th July - Full of Pride
Using stills and film Derek presents an evening in which we are invited to contrast and compare his visit to Hull Pride last year and GMT’s visit to Newcastle Pride in 2018.
24th July - Pebble Painting & HIV Awareness
Jill from Rainbow Home returns to us to lead a pebble painting workshop which focusses on HIV Awareness.
31st July - Wordsearch Competition
Working in teams we find out who can do the most in the time allotted. Prizes for the winners. Simon hosts.
7th August - At Home
Our usual social evening. There may also be a brief members’ update and feedback session.
14th August - What’s On Your Mind
Once again we write down our ideas for a discussion, put them in a bag & wait for Carl to pull them out.
21st August - Ivor Novello at the Proms
During this Prom season we take a look at a 2012 Prom devoted to the life and music of Ivor Novello. Simon Callow narrates and Sophie Bevan, (soprano), Toby Spence (tenor), with the Halle Orchestra & conductor, Mark Elder, perform the music.
28th August - ABM
Our Annual Big Meeting in which we review our 12th year as a collective, renew our commitment to GMT and hold elections to the Duty Membership. We also have a bit of a party.
4th September - At Home
Our usual social evening plus quarterly raffle draw. There may also be a brief members’ update and feedback meeting and we shall look at our Diary Planner for the 4th Quarter of this year.
11th September - 25th March & 1992 Quiz Night
GMT was founded on 25th March 1992. Philip questions us on events that took place on the 25th March, (any year), and events that took place in 1992.
18th September - Chill, Chat & Cook Something Up
You are invited to bring along and share with us some of your favourite ‘grub’. Food you have made at home or got a friend to.
25th September - Film Night: ‘Freak Show’
A dare to be different film starring Alex Lowther as teenager Billy Bloom – a ’fabulous, glitter-bedecked, gender fluid teenager’ who dares to confront with his ‘razor-sharp wit’ and ‘outrageous, anything-goes sense of fashion’ not just his straight-laced father but the bullies at his’ ultra-conservative high school’.
